Wellness for the Mind, Body & Spirit

Holistic well-being is not a one-size-fits-all journey. It's a personal, transformative exploration. My work delves deep into the profound connections that bind us—mind, body, and spirit. I bring a unique blend of health and wellness expertise and metaphysical wisdom to guide you toward self-discovery, healing, and empowerment.

What Is Naturopathic Medicine

At The Shamanic Goddess,  I offer naturopathic medicine as a healing modality to work with my clients and patients. Naturopathic medicine is a holistic approach to healthcare that combines traditional healing practices with modern scientific knowledge. It focuses on treating the root causes of illness rather than just alleviating symptoms. Doctors of Natural Medicine or (Naturopathy) (DNMs) use natural therapies like herbal medicine, nutrition, lifestyle counseling, and homeopathy to promote wellness. They emphasize prevention, patient education, and individualized treatment plans to support the body’s ability to heal itself.

Benefits of Naturopathic Medicine

 Naturopathic medicine offers several benefits:

  • Personalized Care: Treatment plans are tailored to each individual’s unique needs.
  • Focus on Prevention: DNMs help patients/clients make lifestyle changes that prevent disease and improve long-term health.
  • Holistic Approach: Naturopathic medicine treats the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
  • Fewer Side Effects: Natural therapies often have fewer side effects compared to conventional pharmaceuticals.
  • Collaboration with Other Medical Professionals: Doctors of Natural Medicine often work alongside other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.

How Naturopathic Medicine Works

Naturopathic medicine is grounded in six key principles:

  1. First Do No Harm: Using the least invasive treatments and avoiding methods that might have harmful side effects.
  2. The Healing Power of Nature: Supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
  3. Identify and Treat the Root Cause: Addressing the underlying cause of illness rather than just managing symptoms.
  4. Treat the Whole Person: Taking into account physical, mental, emotional, and environmental factors that contribute to health.
  5. Doctor as Teacher: Educating patients about their health and empowering them to take control of their well-being.
  6. Prevention: Focusing on disease prevention through lifestyle changes and early intervention.

Treatments may include dietary recommendations, stress management, herbal remedies, supplements, detoxification, and physical therapies.

Common Conditions Treated By Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine can be effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Digestive Disorders: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food sensitivities, and gastrointestinal imbalances.
  • Hormonal Imbalances: Thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, menstrual irregularities, fertility concerns, and menopause symptoms.
  • Chronic Pain: Conditions like fibromyalgia, arthritis, chronic fatigue, and migraines.
  • Mental Health Issues: Anxiety, depression, and stress management.
  • Skin Conditions: Eczema, acne, and psoriasis.
  • Allergies and Respiratory Issues: Seasonal allergies, asthma, MCAS, and sinusitis.
  • Cardiovascular Health: High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and metabolic disorders.

What Is The Difference Between a Medical Doctor and a Holistic Doctor or Doctor of Natural Medicine?

The key differences between a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a Doctor of Natural Medicine (DNM) are their philosophy of practice, education and training, and scope of practice. MDs practice conventional, or allopathic medicine, which focuses on diagnosing and treating diseases and symptoms. DNMs use a holistic approach that emphasizes natural therapies, disease prevention, and encouraging the body's self-healing process.
